We had a phone interview that lasted about an hour to get a sense of your background. Then there was a written test with two questions, one in English and one in Chinese, also for an hour. This test was done on computers in their computer room. Finally, there was a panel interview with two interviewers, which went for about 50 minutes.

The interview process involved self-introduction and questions about your skills, future plans, expected salary, and previous job experience. They also asked why you would like this job, what aspects interest you, and your expectations for the role.

It was an individual interview with three interviewers where they asked me some simple questions about my background, skills, and understanding of the position and team. The interview started with an English self-introduction, then one question in Mandarin, with the rest of the conversation conducted in Cantonese. After that, there was a written test with three questions that took 45 minutes, including one Excel task and two emails, one in Chinese and one in English.

First, there was a 90-minute written test where I had to edit an English and a Chinese paper. They didn't give any guidelines. Then, I had a 30-minute interview in English with the editor-in-chief and a senior editor. It was really bad. They kept waving my resume and saying I lacked experience. They wanted someone experienced in academic journals and weren't going to train me, which makes it weird they interviewed someone like me. The interview was just criticism and arrogant questioning. I was supposed to have a second round, but they canceled it last minute saying they found someone.
