Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at China Bank.
HR Assistant
The hiring journey was super structured and really thorough. There were a bunch of interview rounds with an HR assistant, an HR Officer, then the head of the department, the head of the division, and finally the head of the group. It definitely showed how carefully and formally the bank checks out candidates. The whole thing took months and there were quite long waits between updates, but they were always professional in their communication. Keep in mind, the timelines can change based on when roles open up and when the interviewers are free.
- Can you tell me about your family background?
- What's your relationship with your family like?
HR Assistant
I applied for the position and sent my application, TOR, diploma, and resume. Then there was an assessment exam and essay. After that, I had an initial HR interview on MS Teams. The next step was an onsite interview with the department head and an HR Officer. This was followed by a final interview with the HR Group Head via MS Teams. Then, they presented the job offer, also on MS Teams. After accepting, I completed the pre-employment requirements and attended an orientation. The whole thing took over a month. The interviews with the HR group head, department head, and HR officer were super chill and easy. The interviewers were really nice and easy to chat with, no stress. They mostly asked about my resume experiences and my essay answers.
- Could you tell us about your family?
- What can you tell me about your past experiences?
Human Resources Assistant
I applied at their Job fair last March 16 at their main office. The whole process took the entire day, from 8am to 5pm. First, I had to register my name, school, course, and the position I was applying for. After that, I was given an essay to answer. Once I finished the essay, I took a psychological exam which was a logic test. Out of over 200 applicants for various roles, about half or fewer passed the exams and qualified for the initial interview, which happened after lunch. All qualified applicants waited in a room to be called, in random order. If you passed the initial interview, they told us to wait for a call within 1-2 weeks, or 3-4 weeks if not. This was based on what I heard from other applicants who had already finished their initial interviews.
- What is your role in your family?
