Customer Success Manager
The interview process was quick and organized, as you'd expect for a scheduling tech company. After applying, I had to do a 5-minute video submission, then an in-person chat with the recruiter. This was followed by meetings with the Directors of CS and a technical presentation with the VP of CS. The last step would have been meeting the CEO, but it didn't get that far. They were always communicative, usually within a couple of days between stages, and Crosby was very responsive, making it feel quite familiar. I think Chili Piper is headed for big things and I'll definitely be watching their progress.
- Can you give a technical presentation about Chili Piper deployment and tackling technical issues for a new client?
- How would you apply your high-touch experience to a lower-touch setting?
- What's the difference between SMB and Mid-Market customers, aside from employee count, and how do their Customer Success requirements differ?
Customer Success Manager
I had a somewhat unusual interview process, not just applying for one role and interviewing for it. I was told to reach out in mid-January about a potential second round. I did so a couple of weeks ago but still haven't heard back. The thing is, I know they're still hiring, so if they don't want to give me a shot at round two, that's fine, but don't offer it in a way that gives me false hope only for it not to happen, and it would be great to at least get a response from the hiring manager or head of talent instead of being ghosted.
- What's your motivation for wanting to join Chili Piper?
- Describe an instance where you creatively resolved a customer's issue.
- In your opinion, what are the three most crucial traits for a successful Customer Success Manager, and what's your reasoning?
Customer Success Manager
First, you'll record a video answering questions about Customer Success Management. If they like your video, you'll have a 30-minute introductory interview with a CSM. This interview is with someone new to the role, not HR or management. The interviewer seemed uninterested, didn't set an agenda, cut you off, gave short replies, and was generally snarky. You realized you wouldn't want to work with her. She lacked experience and gave a bad first impression. When asked about the company, she said it was 'dope' and mentioned founders expect travel. You wanted to know about the role, clients, and growth, but got no proper answers. Overall, it was extremely unprofessional and a turnoff.
