I had one interview with the clinical manager. Before that, I had a brief chat with the recruiter where we discussed the job expectations and requirements. It was helpful that I had already worked on the unit as a PCT.

You go into a room and a lot of questions are asked like your journey and why you chose pediatrics and nursing. Questions about your previous experience will be discussed and how you handled those situations. Scheduling will be discussed as well as department dynamic. I did a trial interview where I hung out with a nurse in the department for awhile and was able to see how I meshed with the other employees and the department as well as them seeing how they meshed with me.

First, you talk to one of their HR recruiters. Then, a nursing recruiter. After that, you head to the department you're interested in for an interview. Finally, you shadow a nurse for 4 hours on that unit. Questions are asked from a pre-printed form. The HR recruiters seemed really disorganized and unaware of what the others were doing.

  • What do you do to unwind after a stressful day on the job?
