First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Chicory.
Partnership Manager
I first spoke with someone from the recruiting team who explained the next steps clearly. After that, I had a phone screen with a team member. The third round was with two people from the team, though one was mainly observing. I didn't find the interview questions very helpful for showcasing my experience and work style. They asked repetitive questions about strengths and weaknesses across my last three jobs, even going back six years.

- What were your successes in a previous role?
- Did you like your previous manager?
Digital Campaign Manager
I interviewed for this role in July 2024. The whole experience was super nice and transparent. Everyone I talked to was friendly and easy to chat with. They always got back to me within a week after each round, which was really refreshing. First up was the hiring manager. I was a bit nervous, but she was so nice and reassuring. Then I met someone on the team, also really nice and reassuring. After that, I met two more team members who were just as great. I didn't get past the third round, but I think the next steps would have been meeting the CEO and some of the earlier folks I met. I was really impressed with how they ran the interviews.

Marketing
The interview process took two months, with an additional month wait for feedback. It consisted of four stages: an initial HR screen, a hiring manager interview, a panel interview with six team members, and finally a meeting with the CEO. Unfortunately, after all this, I received an email from 'No Reply' stating the role was being rescoped and my candidacy wouldn't move forward. It felt disorganized and inefficient, wasting everyone's time, especially the CEO's, only for the role to be changed. I would have expected a direct call or email from HR given the time I invested.

- Can you share more about your past experiences?
Software Engineer
First, I had a good conversation with the hiring manager. Then, I went through an online testing tool, which I didn't think was great. It said it watches you via camera and you shouldn't tab away, so I turned off my camera, but it worked fine. I passed somehow. The coding questions were fair and didn't require looking up basic functions. After that, there were 4 one-hour interviews. The first was pair coding, which I was told about, but not that I'd need to screen share or have an IDE set up. I got it working 20 minutes in and finished, but had no time for anything else. I had to Google syntax and commands, which was tough with multiple languages. The next interview wasn't much better because I don't know every cloud service by heart, only those relevant to the domain.
- Can we do a pair programming session for this interview?
