It started with a recruiter call, then two interviews with creative leaders. I was given a design test with vague instructions to create paid and organic social media assets for their denim, as they wanted to revamp that area. I think this is a red flag because it sounds like they want free ideas. I was asked to redo the design test, this time in my portfolio's style, and create a deck with explanations. They apologized for unclear instructions, but they were still vague. The interviewer also really pushed for me to create a reel or motion graphics. It felt disrespectful of my time and work to ask for fully developed social media assets for free and then decide if they were worth hiring me. So I withdrew my application.

Behavioral Presentation

Got a call from a recruiter first. Then a designer from Chico's outlet called. She said she wanted to meet and I'd need to present a project. They emailed the project guidelines. I had two weeks to finish a project with 12 looks. The company set up flights, car, hotel, and even a tour with a real estate person. I met with 7 people from different departments, all connected to the job.

Behavioral Technical

Recruiter reached out about 2 weeks after I applied. The next day we had a phone interview that went really well, I felt hopeful about a second interview. Recruiter asked for my portfolio. Four weeks passed with no response. I sent two polite follow-up emails but got no reply. It's frustrating when you don't hear back, especially after a good initial interview. I'd prefer a rejection over silence.
