You start by filling out an application. It's a basic application until the end where they ask about your college credits (you need a certain amount to be a substitute). They also ask why you want to substitute teach. After that, they'll call you if everything on your application is verified. Verified means they do a full check on all the jobs you've listed. Your references have to personally fill out a paper form for you, so be careful. You also have to do a rigorous background check and sex offender check, which you have to pay for. All of these steps take a while. It's really not an interview, just a long process.

First, you need to submit an online application. After that, just wait around for a call from a principal. If they're keen to interview you, they'll give you a ring. The questions they ask are pretty standard stuff for a teacher, nothing too wild.
