It was a remote group interview. There were eight people on the panel, and they were all really professional. Their questions were well thought out, and they asked follow-up questions too. Everyone was polite and nice.

It was a multi-step process. First, there was a timed written response. Then, a verbal interview with a principal, assistant principal, and someone from downtown. If you passed that, you were invited to another panel interview with all the superintendents. If you passed that, you got another interview and were asked to keep the offer secret until after the school board meeting where your position would be announced.

You start by filling out an application. It's a basic application until the end where they ask about your college credits (you need a certain amount to be a substitute). They also ask why you want to substitute teach. After that, they'll call you if everything on your application is verified. Verified means they do a full check on all the jobs you've listed. Your references have to personally fill out a paper form for you, so be careful. You also have to do a rigorous background check and sex offender check, which you have to pay for. All of these steps take a while. It's really not an interview, just a long process.

I reached out to HR because I saw a job opening at a school I used to work at. HR then sent my info to the school that had the job. The school called me and set up an interview. I went in and talked with two assistant principals who asked me some questions. About a week later, HR called me with a job offer.
