I had a casual chat with a senior auditor to get to know them. After that, I spoke with a partner at the firm, which was also a really casual conversation.

Behavioral Technical Other

I had a phone screening with a recruiter and the hiring manager for the local office. It was a basic screening, nothing too challenging. I was surprised there wasn't an in-person interview given my qualifications. I suspect my age (around 40) might have been a factor, as the firm seems to favor younger employees who can commit to long hours. Before the interview, I had to complete a strange "predictive index" questionnaire that was vague and lacked clarity. Unlike a previous experience, I didn't get to see the results. The follow-up was also weak; they said they'd respond in a day or two, but I had to email them after about five days to get a callback. However, it seems like a good place to start a career in public accounting. Key things to mention are your willingness to work overtime and interest in business development.
