I applied for the Retail Assistant position through Indeed, and it wasn't my first time applying; I'd previously applied on their website. I got follow-up calls for both applications. The HR person asked me some behavioural questions and about my past work experience. She also asked some HR-related questions regarding my flexibility, commute, and visa status. However, both times, I didn't receive any response or clear communication about the interview outcome, so I'm assuming I was rejected. I wouldn't want to apply to Chemist Warehouse again due to the lack of respect for candidates' time and efforts.

I interviewed for the Elwood Chemist Warehouse store. Most questions were pretty standard, like asking about my retail background and how I'd handle challenging customers. But there were a few curveballs meant to trip me up. For example, they asked if I'd rather be a perfect employee who's occasionally late, or just an okay employee who's always punctual. When I picked the perfect employee, they said that wasn't the answer they wanted, because a perfect employee is never late, and then told me I wasn't a good fit. After about an hour of this kind of behavior, I figured the interview was over. I was surprised to actually get hired. I only stayed for three weeks before they just ghosted me with no explanation. I definitely won't be going back there.

We are looking for someone with a strong customer service orientation, meaning you should be able to interact well with customers, handle their queries, and provide service efficiently. Flexibility is also key, as retail/warehouse roles often require working varying hours/shifts, including weekends or evenings. A team-working attitude is important, so you should be able to work collaboratively with other staff and maintain work standards even during busy periods. Reliability, honesty, and a professional, positive attitude are also essential, particularly when dealing with customers or when under pressure.
