Data Scientist
First, there were some online MCQ questions about Data Science. After that, an interview was conducted where they asked about Python, probability, and my personal project. The difficulty of the tasks was average. You really just need to pass the online test, which can be a bit tricky.
- How would you reverse a list in Python?
- A simple probability question was asked.
Data Scientist
The interview process included three phone interview rounds with a data scientist, the hiring manager, and a technical interview. After these rounds went well, I was invited for an onsite interview. During the onsite, the hiring manager told HR that I was not a senior-level data scientist but a junior, even though I was told the position was for a junior. The hiring manager asked similar questions to the phone interview and I gave similar answers/examples. She also asked how I would solve a current problem they are working on. These types of questions could be asked during the phone interview to screen candidates out. It seems unprofessional but common based on other reviews.
- Can you tell me about a project you worked on and its challenges?
- How would you approach solving a specific problem we are currently facing?
Data Scientist
I had an initial phone screen with the director of data science and a recruiter. It was friendly but pretty detached. They offered next steps at the end, which was a 45-minute technical screen with someone via video and collab doc. This involved SQL, Python, and a conceptual question about feature engineering. I didn't make it to the third step.
- Tell me about your familiarity with Chegg.
- Given Chegg's platform for matching students and tutors, how would you approach matching them based on factors like subjects, tutor availability, and response rates?
- What strategies would you use to attract new students and encourage them to become regular users?
