The interview process for this Assistant Manager role was a mess. It started with a really rude store manager who immediately made me feel unqualified by saying they prefer older/more experienced candidates for retail. Then, I was told I'd have a second interview with another manager, but heard nothing for two weeks because they were on vacation and 'forgot' to call. The second interview went much better with a different manager. After that, there was a third interview with the district manager, which was unexpected. I followed up with the first manager, who sounded positive about my chances and promised a decision soon. Two more weeks passed, and I still hadn't heard back. When I called again, I was told they were still discussing with the regional manager. It's been over a month, and I still haven't received a decision or even a rejection call, which is frustrating as I could have found another job in that time. I'm now looking elsewhere because of this experience.

After applying, I was contacted in three days. The interview was set up at a different location because the CC wasn't set up yet. I arrived early, and the interviewer wasn't there yet. As I walked around the store, she showed up after the interview time. She took me to the back stock room and conducted the interview. It was a standard interview, but the interviewer seemed disorganized. She would interrupt me to compliment my shoes or say something random unrelated to the position. After the interview, she mentioned that if she couldn't offer me the assistant manager role, she'd be happy to offer a Charmer's position. After two weeks of no contact, I followed up via email. She replied briefly that the manager positions were filled and asked if I was interested in the Charmer's position. I inquired for more details about the role, but she never responded. Then, a week later, I received a call about a second interview for the assistant manager position. I felt there was a significant lack of communication and organization within the company, and I didn't want to be part of it, so I declined and accepted a position with another company.

I applied online, but the GM from another location called me because the position I applied for was filled. She said her location was hiring and closer to my home, so I agreed to interview. First, I met the General Store Manager in person. We mostly talked about my resume, the job details, and growth opportunities. Then, I spoke with the district manager over the phone. She was more interested in my field experience, particularly managing people and tracking sales. She mentioned that my retail management experience might not be enough and that my college degree didn't help much, which made me rethink the job. After that, I had a more technical call with the senior recruiter. She went into detail about their conversion system (25-35% purchase rate) and asked again about my management and sales experience. She also suggested I might be a better fit for the Assistant Manager role with a clear path to promotion. Finally, I met the district manager in person again. We had a good conversation, and she offered me an Assistant Manager position at a different store, with a promise of promotion to Senior Manager within months. However, the pay was too low for the long commute, so I declined. I would consider it if it were at the closer location.
