First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Charles Schwab.
Relationship Manager
The interview process involved a series of questions covering various aspects of your background and suitability for the role. It started with a general introduction, followed by logistical questions about exam and training dates, and then delved into your accomplishments, strengths, and weaknesses. The interview also explored your motivations for applying to TD Ameritrade and your reasons for leaving your current job. Significant time was dedicated to discussing your client relationship experience, teamwork, innovation, and adaptability to change. Situational questions were posed to assess your problem-solving skills, particularly in handling client issues and managing your workload. Finally, there was an opportunity for you to ask questions.
- Can you tell us more about yourself?
- This role requires license exams on X date and training for them on X-X date. Does that work with you?
- Do you have any vacations planned on those days?
Manager
The recruiter was not responsive at all, and I never got feedback even after several attempts to reach out. The interviews themselves were okay, and the interviewers were fine, but the overall process duration is extremely long. Schwab is very slow. It took over 5 months from the first interview to the offer. They never contacted me when they said they would, and I had to send multiple emails weekly to find out if I was moving forward. I declined the offer because the process took too long. I wouldn't recommend this place if you need to hire someone quickly.
- Can you describe a situation where effective communication was crucial, and what was the outcome?
- Tell us about a time you had to handle a situation that demanded significant communication skills and explain how it resolved.
Risk Management
The recruiter and hiring manager didn't specify the exact job title I was interviewing for. I only found out the actual position after I got rejected via email. The interview was in person and the interviewers seemed unprepared, like they hadn't even looked at my resume. None of the stuff I sent over was given to them. They asked weird questions and had strange body language.
- Imagine you're stuck in a room for a day with books, food, water, and a toilet. What would you do?
