I was found on a job board by HR and the director for this role, which I was super excited about because my resume was a great fit. First, I had a phone screen with the director. Then, I was invited for a 5-hour onsite interview with 5 people from the company. It was a long day, but everyone I met was friendly. I spoke with two team members, the director, and two team leads. Before the onsite, there was a challenging logical test, and after, a writing sample. Honestly, I'd rather do one long interview day than meet different people every week; I found this style very productive. The main issue was the company's communication afterward. They said I'd hear back in two days, but I didn't. After a week of waiting, I emailed for an update, and HR said they were still processing. A week later, I emailed the director, who didn't reply (maybe he was busy). The following week, I emailed HR again, and they finally let me know they'd finished interviewing the last candidate, which was over two weeks after my interview. Just a few days ago, thinking I wouldn't hear back, I sent another status check email. HR informed me they'd selected someone else. While I'm fine with them finding the best candidate, the lack of communication throughout the month-long process was awful. I always had to initiate contact. It felt really disrespectful, and honestly, I feel I deserve better responses.

  • Can you describe a challenging period in your past role and your approach to managing it?
