First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Chandler Unified School District.
School Bus Driver
It was an open interview, and someone was available right away. He was friendly and courteous. We sat in an office, where I was asked questions related to driving children, and child safety.
- Regarding a traffic issue, what steps would you take to ensure the children's safety while aiming to arrive at school punctually?
Teacher
A school secretary will call you to set up an interview. You might be interviewed by a panel of grade-level teachers and the principal, just the principal or deans/assistant principal, or a principal or deans/VP with a specialized program teacher, or perhaps only by specialized program teachers, whatever works best for their schedules. If they want to hire you, they'll offer you the job in about 1-2 days. If not, expect an email saying no within 3-5 days or maybe longer.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What's your teaching philosophy regarding specific subjects or approaches?
- Tell me about your experience with a particular demographic or student group.
Speech Language Pathologist
The interview started with a rundown of what would be discussed, including job specifics, and then moved into questions about personal experience. The questions were well-crafted, giving you space to showcase your skills and background. They allot time at the end for you to ask any questions you might have. Make sure to bring your questions and any documents you think would be useful. I brought my resume and recommendation letters, though they can already see those in the application portal.
- Can you share three of your biggest strengths?
- Could you elaborate on three of your biggest weaknesses?
Teacher
It took a bit to get an interview set up. As usual with these districts, the whole application thing is a long haul: submitting forms, paperwork, transcripts, recommendation letters, and so on. I had an initial chat with HR, and then they called me in for interviews at two different schools. The first school interview went pretty well, so they set up a second one. But before that second interview could happen, I actually got a job offer from another school nearby during an interview there.
- What's your approach to connecting with our diverse Hispanic community?
