The interview process was really relaxed and everyone was super friendly. They introduced me to the team, and it felt like they just wanted to see if I'd fit in personally with the other staff. The questions they asked were straightforward and directly related to the job.

A friend recruited me so I applied and met with the manager. I filled out paperwork. A few days later, I was called in for an interview, but they thought I was applying for sales because of how I was dressed. I was interviewed by 3 people, including the Division Manager. They asked about my ability to hire good people, and I mentioned some people might come with me if I were hired. One interviewer was skeptical. They asked about my salary expectations. I told them my current salary would be fine. They said only veteran employees made that much and their offer would be similar after benefits. It wasn't quite what I was looking for. They initially hired someone else but offered me a sales position, which I declined. A week later, they called back and offered me the original position. I later learned their hire didn't work out. It took a week and a half for them to make an offer after the initial mistake. We negotiated and I accepted.

This was a POOR interview experience! The company's instability became clear through my questions. They've had many CEOs recently, lots of senior managers were fired, and their finances are shaky. They're also unclear about compensation, playing games instead of being upfront about what they offer. I talked to past and current employees who confirmed about 90% negative and 10% positive things. The recruiters had poor follow-up too, which is unacceptable. They need to be direct, honest, and have a positive outlook. Their current methods to attract needed talent feel desperate, like they're trying to save a failing company. I am declining their offer.

There were 5 phone interviews because the National Director of Sales had a busy work schedule. This was unusual but it gave me a chance to get to know my supervisor. It was important for me to make sure I was working for an ethical company and manager. Since this job required 100% travel, I was careful to ensure the fit was right and the compensation was adequate.
