Nursing Faculty
So after I sent in my application, the first thing was a phone call where we just went over my background and qualifications. Then the very next week, they had me come down to the Troy location for an in-person interview. Part of that was I had to give a 10-minute teaching session that I prepared myself. It was actually a really fun interview, I met a lot of the educators there who came to watch my presentation. Everyone was super welcoming and supportive, and lots of them came up to introduce themselves afterwards. The very last step was an interview with the college president, who was great. We just chatted about my career path and what I've done.
- How have you handled a conflict situation with a coworker in the past?
Full Time Faculty
So I had this interview for a full-time faculty position. It started with a recruiter call where we chatted about my clinical background, my teaching ideas, and why I wanted to teach nursing. Then, I had a panel interview with some faculty and leaders. They asked me about how I get different kinds of students involved in learning, how I weave real-world clinical stuff into my lectures, and how I help students do well, especially when things are tough. A really cool part was the teaching demo where I had to give a short lesson like I was talking to students, using active learning. After that, I got to talk about how the curriculum fits together, what the faculty expect, and how my work as a psychiatric nurse practitioner could be useful in teaching.
- How would you assist students who are finding it difficult to keep up while still upholding academic rigor?
Visiting Professor
I applied for a remote visiting professor position in the online BSN program at Chamberlain University, and I had a good time meeting the recruiters. I was able to speak with the Chief Academic Officer, the Dean of the BSN program, and the hiring manager. All of these interactions were virtual, either through scheduled phone calls or Teams meetings. During each meeting, I was given details about the BSN program and Chamberlain's educational model. They also explained what I should expect in the subsequent steps of the hiring process. Overall, it was a positive experience for me.
- Can you discuss your educational background and your experiences as a nurse?
- Can you share your experiences in nurse leadership?
- Could you elaborate on your overall professional accomplishments?
Academic Advisor
I applied and got a callback about a week later. Recruitment was the worst part. It was very unprofessional, they scheduled interviews incorrectly, and told me incorrect information. They were thinking I must have been an entirely different candidate. At one point she claimed my app was cancelled for a no-show! I actually interviewed hours before. She was super sassy and rude via email. I would hate to work with an organization like that.
- Could you tell us about yourself and give us your elevator pitch?
