QA Engineer
So after you send in your resume, the hiring team or a recruiter looks at your qualifications to see if you meet the basic requirements. If it's a technical role like software development or QA, you might get a technical test or coding challenge. This could be before or after the screening interview. It's to check out your problem-solving skills and tech abilities.
- Can you walk me through your background as a QA Engineer?
- When you have multiple projects going on, how do you decide what to work on first?
- Tell me about a difficult bug you discovered and what you did about it.
Senior QA Engineer
The interview process started with a short call with a recruiter or HR to check basic qualifications, talk about my background, and see if I was interested. They might ask about my experience, skills, and salary expectations. Then, there was an online assessment to check technical skills. After that, I had technical interviews. For technical roles, there might be coding challenges in an online test or live session. Then, a more in-depth technical interview with a team member or hiring manager, focusing on my specific skills and experience. This could involve problem-solving, coding challenges, and job-relevant technical questions.
- Can you tell me what a map is in Java?
- Could you explain OOPs concepts?
- What is the return type of getWindowHandles?
QA Engineer
The interview took about 1 hour and 15 minutes and involved 2 programming questions, specifically on character count and sorting an array. There were also more technical questions related to Java, covering inheritance, Selenium, waits, and exceptions handling. Even though I answered about 80% of the questions correctly, the feedback was negative. The interviewer seemed unprofessional and it felt like a waste of time.
- Write a function to count character occurrences in a string.
- Implement an algorithm to sort an array of elements.
- Explain the concept of inheritance in Java.
