Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Centrica.
Finance
The interview was about 40-45 minutes long and included an online assessment. The questions were very specific to the energy market and Centrica. Two interviewers took turns asking questions, and there was no strict time limit for answering, which was helpful. The interview felt quite challenging overall.
- How would you estimate the number of British Gas customers?
Finance Placement
First there was an online application. Then you had to do some online tests, numerical and verbal reasoning ones. After that, a telephone interview where they mostly asked about your competencies and why you wanted the role. Finally, an assessment centre which included a group exercise, an individual exercise and a presentation, and a 1:1 interview focusing on competencies, motivation and your knowledge of the role.
- What motivates you to join Centrica?
Finance
I applied online and had to answer four competency questions about responsibility, drive, why Centrica, and one other I don't recall. Then I got a call for a telephone interview which was okay, focusing on motivations and competencies. They asked some of the same questions as the online application. I'm waiting to hear back.
- Can you describe an instance when you established a formal relationship with someone?
- Tell me about a time you built a formal relationship with someone.
- Tell me about a time you challenged someone.
