The hiring journey had a few steps: first, a 30-minute chat with the hiring manager, then a 60-minute technical interview with the software engineering manager. After that, there was a 90-minute technical assessment with both a software architect and a team manager. Later on, a 60-minute meeting focused on cultural fit with the Head of Engineering and the R&D VP. Finally, a 30-minute session with the Head of Engineering and the software engineering manager to align on the role. Everyone I spoke with was really nice and kept things conversational. I was a bit shaky on Java since I hadn't used it much lately and fumbled a couple of times during the technical and assessment meetings, but they were understanding and helpful, making it a good overall experience. It was a bit intimidating thinking about meeting senior management, but they were all super friendly and made me feel comfortable. It's clear they put a lot of effort into their hiring process.

They sent me a take-home assignment that was supposed to take 8 hours without talking to me first. I asked to chat with someone before doing work, and they agreed. The phone screen was weird; the interviewer was complaining about how lazy most of his engineers were and said a lot of personal things about them. After that, I finished the assignment. The expectation was 4-8 hours to build a backend API with a database and tests. I got it done, even using their preferred libraries. It was fully tested, working, and I thought it was pretty clean. The company completely ghosted me after I submitted it. I followed up, and they eventually said the code wasn't up to their standards for the role, with no specific feedback. It was a bad experience with rude treatment. Don't bother.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Create a basic back-end API that includes a database.
