First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Centric Consulting.
Consultant
I interviewed with Centric Consulting, and it wasn't great. The interviewer, even though senior, couldn't lead the conversation. The questions felt basic, like for a junior role. The JD highlighted domain knowledge, but only two domain questions were asked, and they felt random, not practical. The interviewer preferred textbook answers over real-world insights. I got 95% of them right, but the feedback was wild. They rejected me for a minor skill not emphasized in the JD, and the feedback on domain questions was totally unfair. It seemed like the interviewer was either not serious about evaluating or didn't know how to assess practical experience. The whole thing felt like a formality, maybe just to show management they were hiring. I suspect they already had someone picked and were just interviewing others as backups. It was a total waste of time. If Centric Consulting isn't serious about candidates, they shouldn't schedule interviews and mislead people. This is bad for HR and the company's reputation. They should really fix their hiring process to be fair and professional.

Consultant
I was first approached by a recruiter about a mainframe programmer position in the insurance sector for a major US insurance company. The entire process had 3 rounds. The first was a screening call with a colleague based in India. This was followed by a second round with two US-based colleagues via phone. The final round was a Skype interview with the client who initiated the role. The company is quite selective, adhering to US hiring standards, which explains the extended, month-long process. I joined Centric India three months ago and it was a good choice.
- The initial screening focused heavily on technical mainframe coding abilities, specifically one-liner solutions.
- Subsequent interviews shifted towards domain-specific, scenario-based questions, particularly concerning the BFSI and Insurance sectors.
- The final round emphasized my understanding of the BFSI and Insurance domains, along with my communication abilities.

The interview process at Centric felt long, spanning a few months with six interviews total. I talked with people in similar roles, managers, and even some partners. While it was a bit much at first, it gave me a chance to really get to know the company and who I'd be working with. Centric seemed to focus on finding the right fit, both for the company culture and the specific job, by having relaxed conversations about my past work, my ambitions, and even things I'm passionate about outside of work.
- Were there any unexpected questions during the interview process?
