Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Central States Funds.
Staff Auditor
I applied online and heard back from a recruiter about a week later who scheduled an in-person interview. First, I took a computerized skills test covering basic math, grammar, and spelling. Then, I met with both a supervisor and a manager from the field audit team. The interview felt very laid-back and conversational, focusing on my background and achievements. I also got to ask a lot of questions. It was a pretty good experience overall.
- Can you share an example of an idea you proposed that was implemented at work?
- Describe a situation where you had to deal with a challenging client.
- What is something not mentioned on your resume that highlights your suitability for this role?
Auditor
It was decent overall but the HR people weren't all that smooth at managing the process or coordination. It was fairly quick and decisive. Overall the interview is pretty easy and shouldn't be too difficult if you prepare.
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
Auditor
I applied through LinkedIn and got a call a few days later to come in for an interview. Once I got there, the HR manager told me about the benefits, which are really good. Then, she had me take a skills test on the computer. It was a timed test with 50 basic questions on shapes, analogies, and math, plus an essay on why they should hire me. After the test, a department manager interviewed me. She mostly asked questions about my resume and if I was okay with traveling for the job. She also asked about past experiences and conflict. I didn't hear back after the interview, so I guess I didn't do too well on the skills test.
- Can you share an instance where you had a conflict with a coworker or supervisor?
- What would you say is your biggest weakness?
- What are your strongest qualities?
