First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Centra Health.
Registered Nurse
I put in my application for the Residency Program on the web. After a few weeks, someone emailed me to ask if I was still looking for a job. Once I got back to them, they set up an interview. When I got there, I met with the nurse recruiter. The nurse manager for the unit was there too, and the recruiter. Also, two other nurse managers were present. It turned out I was interviewing for two jobs at once, which wasn't planned. Anyway, I aced the interview and accepted their offer.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Describe a situation where you went above and beyond for someone.
- What makes you want to join our organization?
Registered Nurse
It was pretty involved! I had one chat with the nurse recruiter, then two panel interviews, and after that, I shadowed on the unit for the position I wanted. It seems like it's a popular role. They initially said there were no more openings, but about a week later, the unit manager called and let me know more positions were approved and offered me the job right then over the phone! The panel asked a good number of questions. The shadowing part was about 6 hours, but it was pretty relaxed.
- Can you share an instance where you disagreed with a manager's or supervisor's decision and explain how you handled it?
Registered Nurse
I met with the managers Courtney and Julie in their office. They asked me some questions and I had to prioritize care. Then, I took a math test on dosage calculations and safe dosages.
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
- Given three patients and a technician available, describe your delegation strategy and initial patient assessment priorities.
