I applied online and then got a call for a phone interview with the research assistant/program coordinator. The interview was about 30-45 minutes. They wanted to know if I understood the research group's recent work and priorities, and they asked about my own experience and knowledge. They also explained the intern position. I got a call a few weeks later with an offer. I only talked to the research assistant/program coordinator.

I applied with my resume and cover letter and got a response two weeks later. This was around Christmas, so it may not be their usual timing. The hiring staffer requested three writing samples, which I emailed. I didn't hear back after submitting them. A friend at the Center mentioned they receive over 500 applications for many research assistant roles and often hire internally or bring back former interns. It seems tough to get a position unless you've interned there first.
