First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Centene.
Compliance Analyst
Applied and heard back very quickly - within 2 hrs. Had a interview with the recruiter the next day. The following Monday I interviewed with the hiring manager and a member of the team. I thought the interview went really well but then I was ghosted. It’s been over a month and a half and I’ve yet to hear back about the role. I’ve reached out to the recruiter who wouldn’t respond back to the calls, vm, or emails I sent. I reached out to another person who was finally able to get the recruiter to respond back to me who still had no update about the job.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Can you describe a time when...?
Compliance Analyst
The recruiter initiated the process with a phone screen to discuss salary expectations. Following this, I went through four additional interviews: one with the direct manager, another with team members, a third with other managers, and a final one where the recruiter presented an offer. After considering the offer, I tried to negotiate, but the company rejected my counteroffer. The recruiter then reverted to the initial offer, which I accepted. Unexpectedly, the recruiter later stated they were considering other candidates and ultimately rescinded my offer a week later. This entire offer process was extremely unprofessional and frankly insulting, given my qualifications. Unless you have an inside connection at Centene, I would advise against pursuing opportunities there, regardless of their stated commitment to diversity or internal advancement.
- Would you be willing to accept a salary of $75,000 for this position?
Compliance Specialist
The interview process was pretty typical. I first spoke with a recruiter, then had a panel interview with the team, followed by a final short interview where I was told I was one of two finalists. Everyone I spoke to was lovely and professional. Therefore, I was disappointed to receive a generic email stating I was no longer being considered for the position. It felt impersonal. At that stage of the interview process I think the decent thing to do would be to call the applicant, or at least send a more personalized email stating that they went with the other candidate.
- Have you ever worked on a "stretch" project?
