Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cenovus.
IT Analyst
Had a call about my resume where they went through it step by step. Asked about my relevant previous experience, not too many technical questions. Also asked why I like the company and how it fits into my vision and future career.
- What is it about this company that appeals to you?
Business Analyst
So, for the interview, it's a good idea to know the STAR method for answering questions. You might have a panel interview with HR and the hiring managers. It'll probably be about an hour long. And yeah, there will likely be more than one interview overall.
- Can you tell me about your experience and background?
- How familiar are you with using the STAR method for interview questions?
- Could you share an example of a project where you utilized your analytical abilities?
Business Analyst
I had two interviews. The first was with the hiring manager, and it was pretty relaxed. We mostly chatted about the role and my experience. The second interview was a panel with four people, and they asked a lot of questions about situations I've been in. The hiring manager was really nice, and overall, it was a good experience.
- Prepare for technical questions, but expect only behavioral and situation-based questions.
- Remember to use the STAR approach for your answers.
