I applied online and had a phone screening. The recruiter mentioned they would follow up after coordinating with the hiring team for an interview schedule. We set up an interview, but upon arrival, I was informed the hiring manager was off that week. Afterward, I proceeded with a relatively straightforward interview with a team lead. I was told I'd be contacted for a drug and background check within the week, but it took three weeks to get the test. Another two weeks passed before orientation. I accepted a different role after the drug test, as internal communication seemed poor.

The interview was short and not difficult, but it felt more like a courtesy chat because they seemed to have already made their hiring decision. I talked with the recruiter for 25 minutes, and then the hiring manager the next day for about 10 minutes.

The interview was late at night, around 10pm, because the night shift manager wanted to interview me directly instead of HR. We sat in a small conference room where they reviewed my resume. I was informed the job runs Sunday through Thursday evenings, starting around 6pm, with about an hour of potential overtime in the morning, and that I'd have to stay until the work was finished. The role involves operating a cherry picker to pick pharmaceutical products and bring them to the dock in a climate-controlled warehouse. The manager mentioned that if I didn't hear back in a few days, they likely hired someone else, but to wait 90 days because that person might not work out or quit, and they might call me then. I suspect my pay expectations were too high, despite my 20+ years of warehouse experience. Two days later, I received an email stating they had hired another candidate. My advice if you interview: lowball your salary request to get the job, it seems like you'll be working for peanuts. Good luck if you try, it was a waste of my time.
