The recruiter from Cella seemed unprepared and incompetent. I was ghosted after an interview where it was clear they hadn't reviewed my CV, knew little about the job, and incorrectly stated the hours would vary. This uncertainty about the weekly workload (potentially 30-40 hours) decreased my interest. The company seemed cheap and unprofessional because of this. Their client, however, confirmed the hours would be consistent. While I don't expect much from recruiters, this one was exceptionally lazy and dishonest.
- Can you detail your experience within this specific industry?
Project Manager
I got a recruiter call about a project manager role focusing on instructional designers. They set up a face-to-face interview within a week, and after that, I had a phone interview with another manager. They initially said they were looking to hire fast, maybe within a few weeks. The whole process from the recruiter call to the two interviews took about two weeks. After the interviews, things went completely quiet. I got periodic updates saying the client hadn't provided the scope of work, so they couldn't move forward. I was told it was down to me and one other candidate. This was around September. By December, still no decision, and they were still waiting on the client's scope of work. It's now February, and I haven't heard anything since December. I'm assuming the position is canceled or on hold, but I don't know for sure. The people were nice, and the interviews weren't hard, but the lack of communication was disappointing. I usually avoid contract work because of past bad experiences, but this company seemed solid, so I was really excited. This just confirms why I don't trust contractors due to client uncertainty. I won't consider contract positions anymore.
- What's your approach to delegating resources for a new project that needs to be given to a designer?
Branch Manager
The interview process was well-organized and moved along quickly. I started with a phone screen with HR, which was helpful to confirm my interest before taking more time off. Then, I met with the whole team: the Recruiting Manager, Regional Director, another Manager, and two key decision-makers from corporate. After meeting the team in person, I had one more conversation, and then I got a verbal offer within a week. They were good about giving feedback and answering my questions throughout.
- Can you share your experience managing both recruiting and sales teams?
- In your opinion, what qualities define a good manager?
- What skills, abilities, and past experience do you possess that would lead to success in this position?
Creative Recruiter
I applied online and a recruiter reached out pretty fast, like within days. We did a phone screen and then scheduled an interview for the following week. I met with the hiring manager and it felt like it went well. They told me I would definitely be moving on to meet with one of the VPs. I sent thank you notes to both the hiring manager and the recruiter the day after, and the recruiter also confirmed she'd set up the meeting. And then... radio silence. I never heard back from either of them even though I tried reaching out multiple times.
