Inside Sales Representative
So I applied for an Entry Level Inside Sales role, and the interview process was pretty fast, taking about two weeks. It started with a pre-recorded screening interview that had a time limit. Then came a phone interview, followed by a video interview. I made it to the video interview stage, but unfortunately, I didn't get the job. They mentioned a follow-up that never happened. It's also confusing because I applied for an Account Representative position, but was interviewed for this role, so I'm not sure if the titles are interchangeable or if I was misdirected. My final interviewer seemed unimpressed with my answers, even though other sales employees at CDW thought they were good. I suspect it was just the interviewer's demeanor, as they were quite stern and interrupted me a lot.
- Can you share an instance of a failure?
- Recount a situation where you encountered a challenging customer.
- How do you cope with being turned down?
Sales Representative
So I applied with my resume, cover letter, and basic info. Pretty much right after, I got an email asking me to do a one-way HireVue interview that I had to finish within three business days. It had 7 basic behavioral questions and took about 30 minutes. A few days after finishing that, they emailed me to set up a quick phone call with a recruiter. It was a really chill chat about start dates, pay, training, and a bit about the company. Then, they asked for my availability to schedule a 2-way video call for the next week. That interview was about 45 minutes long. We talked about why I'm interested in CDW, my goals, my past experiences, and some behavioral questions, similar to the one-way interview. It was okay, but felt pretty standard and not super personal. What was a bit odd was that the interviewer wasn't even from the location I applied to, so I couldn't really ask specific questions about the city or that office since they wouldn't know. Overall, I think it went well and I felt good about the interview. A few days later, I got a basic email saying they found other candidates. The whole process seems fine and works okay, I guess. It's a bit annoying that it took 3 weeks just to get rejected with no real reason, but I guess that's how it is with big companies getting tons of applications.
- Why are you interested in tech sales or CDW?
- Tell me about a time you got negative feedback. What was it for, and how did you handle it?
- How would you handle a call from an unhappy customer?
Sales Assistant
After I sent in my resume, I got an automated email saying if it was a match, I'd get a call back. A recruiter from CDW called me and I got to ask them questions about the company and the job. The recruiter then showed my resume to the hiring manager. Next, I got an email to set up an interview with the hiring manager. After that interview, they gave me an Excel test. Once they saw my test results, I was set up to talk with some of the Directors I might be reporting to.
