First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CDW.
Sales Account Manager
The interview process included an initial phone call with an inside recruiter, followed by a one-on-one meeting with the hiring manager. The third stage was a panel interview with five CDW employees, including managers and directors. I felt the panel interview was unnecessary as their decision seemed pre-determined. While I tried to qualify CDW, I could have done more to understand their requirements, and it didn't help that the hiring manager had only been in his role for three months. The people were nice and the environment seems good for entry-level positions. If you interview with them, make sure to ask them to share all requirements, and then ask again.
- What is your motivation?
Account Manager
I was first contacted by a recruiter on Indeed. Then, another recruiter took over and we had multiple conversations, including a phone interview. The phone interview focused on my background and sales-related situational questions. After showing my interest and his assessment of a good fit, I was given a week to confirm my commitment. Once I confirmed, the recruiter scheduled a 1-on-1 interview with a manager. I visited the Chicago office, got a tour, and then had my interview with the manager. The interview lasted about an hour and involved more situational questions and extensive discussion about my sales career. I received an on-the-spot offer after a positive interview. I accepted, and I found the entire process to be efficient and felt they genuinely valued my time and aimed for a mutual fit.
- Can you explain your motivation for pursuing a career in sales and what draws you to this industry?

- What are some sales-related situations you've encountered and how did you handle them?
Account Manager
A recruiter for CDW reached out about my resume on a job site and asked if I wanted to do a phone interview. The first call was pretty short, about 15 mins, just discussing the job. Then we set up another phone interview, this one longer at 45 minutes, where they asked me behavioral questions and we went over my resume. After that, they invited me to the office for an in-person interview, which was also all behavioral questions. They mainly wanted to see if I was energetic and goal-driven. The whole thing was pretty easy and the people were chill and fun.
- Tell me about a goal you worked towards in the past year and how you achieved it.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to handle an angry customer?
- Share an instance where you had to persuade someone after they initially said no.
