The hiring process involved three main stages. It kicked off with a recruiter call facilitated by a headhunter who helped me get my foot in the door. This was followed by a phone interview, and then an in-person meeting with HR. Both of these initial stages were relatively straightforward. The most challenging part was a trial-day experience where I got to actually do the job. This involved going out into the field with an existing employee to 'pound the pavement' and visit around 80 doors. I even took the initiative to try a few doors on my own, which I believe was a significant factor in receiving the job offer.

Behavioral Case Presentation

You first meet the hiring manager, and if they like you, you'll proceed to the sales manager. The questions focus on your motivation and ability to perform under pressure. The initial manager is friendly and asks situational questions. The second interview is very informal, and the sales manager is quite unprofessional. The third stage is a field-ride, where you observe door-to-door sales. It's crucial to be proactive and attempt cold-calling to demonstrate aggressiveness. After the field-ride, I realized this wasn't the job for me, as it requires significant social skills and confidence to approach many businesses daily to set appointments. The sales team culture is relaxed, with a young and seemingly fun group. They joke a lot, so if you're easily offended or don't enjoy fun, this isn't the place.

Behavioral Technical

I replied to a Monster posting for the role and was quickly contacted. They had me complete a personality test. The day after I finished the test, I got a call for a quick screening/phone interview. Then I was asked to come in for a one-on-one interview, which was really terrible. The interviewer was late and seemed really uninterested from the start. He asked some basic, random questions and then explained what to expect. While I was answering, he kept looking around, rubbing his eyes, and generally not paying attention. Afterward, he told me to call him if I wanted to move forward. I called the next day, but he didn't pick up, and I didn't really care.
