Store Manager
I applied online and heard back about my interview around a week later. The interview itself was pretty laid-back, held right there at the store counter. The interviewer threw a bunch of hypothetical questions at me, asking how I'd handle certain scenarios or to recall past experiences dealing with similar situations. After I got home, I received a job offer within about 45 minutes. I accepted, and then there was a background check to finalize everything. Once that cleared, I started my training a week later. I later learned that this specific manager prioritizes personality compatibility over skills or experience when hiring, stating she hires based on whether she finds someone easy to talk to.
- Think of good situations you've handled in the past to talk about.
Assistant Store Manager
I put in my application online and then got a call right away to schedule an interview. The interview took place in the store, at a table near the front where everyone could see and hear. It was a bit distracting because you could hear everyone else too, but the good part was getting to see firsthand how the store operates. The interview was pretty standard, asking about past difficult situations and whether I prefer working alone or with a team. After the interview, they offered me the job on the spot. Since I'm changing careers and had other interviews lined up, I asked for a few days to decide. They said that was fine, as long as I let them know by the end of the week.
- Tell me about a time you handled a difficult situation.
- Do you prefer working independently or collaboratively?
Store Manager
It was nice, it was held with my district manager at the time. The store was a bit busy so it wasn't super private but it was alright. They asked normal questions and told me about the job. The interviewer and I got along during the interview. Everyone seemed really friendly. It was a nice and easy process.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to overcome a difficult challenge?
