Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CARVANA.
Team Lead
The interview process was long, taking a month and two weeks and involving six interviews. The salary offered didn't align with the job responsibilities, and the overall candidate experience wasn't smooth.
- What is prompting your job search?
- What makes you interested in this particular company?
Team Lead
I applied for the lead position on a Monday and was interviewed on Thursday. The recruiter call was excellent, and I felt I met and exceeded the requirements. However, I was later messaged that I wasn't selected. It feels like experience isn't highly valued in their hiring.
- What makes you want to work here?
Team Lead
Carvana was really quick with the interview process. I applied on 1/24, had a phone interview on 1/29, went on-site on 2/7, and got an offer on 2/10. The first step was a chat with the recruiter about my experience and how I'd fit with Carvana's culture. They asked me two situational questions, and it was a pretty chill conversation. The recruiter then set up an on-site interview to meet with various managers and the director. Each manager spent about 30 minutes assessing my skills and whether I'd be a good culture fit. My advice: show you care more about people than profits, be confident, friendly, and honest.
- Describe a situation where you gave feedback to a colleague.
- What's your approach to building team relationships without harming business outcomes?
- Can you share an instance where you motivated someone towards achieving a goal?
