I went to a walk-in interview at CARS24 in March 2026, which was unexpected for a senior position. They said all rounds would be done in one day, from 11 AM to 6 PM, so I decided to go. Upon arrival, I got an assignment with four questions, three about CARS24's products. While I was working on it, I was called for the first interview. It was a bad experience; the interviewer didn't introduce himself, didn't seem interested, hadn't reviewed my resume, and asked a basic product design question. He was on his phone the whole time I was answering. He ended the interview quickly to take a break. After I finished the assignment, HR said they'd contact me on Monday, which contradicted the same-day process promise. The whole thing felt like a disorganized campus placement, with many candidates doing similar assignments, not a proper senior-level hiring process.

You'll start with an assignment where you get a problem statement to solve as a PM, needing to create a PRD and any supporting analysis or wireframes. Then, there are 4 more rounds: Round 1 is a Technical & Product Management Discussion, digging into the assignment and technical PM stuff. Round 2 is a Product-Specific Round, focusing on product thinking, roadmap, metrics, and user experience. Round 3 is a Managerial Round, looking at how you collaborate, manage stakeholders, and make decisions. Finally, Round 4 is HR & Culture Fit, checking if you align with company values, your work style, and future goals.

My interview journey at Cars24 spanned 3 months and included these steps: application, an initial chat about my work history and fit with the Hiring Manager, a 3-day take-home live case study on current Cars24 challenges, and finally, a product leader from another department interviewed me. This second round was supposed to be a case study, but it turned into a general product discussion, re-hashing some of the same questions from the first round. I appreciated the real-world case study on Cars24's issues, which was a great learning experience. However, I think there could be more clarity and better communication about the interview process from HR and to candidates. Also, it would be better to schedule the case study and presentation later in the process, not right after the first round. I didn't get to present my case, which makes me wonder if leadership lacks prioritization skills or if it was a tactic to gather ideas. Regardless, I'm glad the rejection came early. My advice: don't reveal all your best ideas in the initial submission to save some for a potential presentation and protect your work. Still, I'm thankful for the exposure to a live case. Be aware, there are at least three more rounds after this discussion before any offer might be made. Good luck!
