Technical Other

I was contacted for a Data Scientist role. I cleared the first round, and then was given an assignment. After submission, I received no response. I contacted HR, but got no answer. A few days later, HR called me back to interview for the same position. After clearing the first round again, I was sent another assignment. Upon submission, there was again no reply. When I tried calling again, they simply did not answer the phone. What kind of behavior is this from the HRs??

Technical Case Behavioral

It was a few rounds. First round was technical, I was asked about traditional ML. Then there was a case study which I had to submit within a week. After that there was another technical round discussing the case study and my previous experience. After that there was a behavioural round with the hiring manager. And then an HR round for salary discussion.

Confirmed questions8 questions
  • Regarding traditional ML, how would you handle categorical features with a large number of unique values?
  • How can class imbalance be addressed in model training?
  • Could you explain XGBoost's approach to handling missing (NaN) values?

Technical Behavioral

Recruiter called me for an interview, which was on G-meet. The first round had a senior manager who asked questions about probability and statistics, but it was clear she didn't really understand them herself, and couldn't grasp different approaches to the same problem. In the second round, someone from the managerial department conducted the interview for a Data Scientist position. They seemed to be looking for someone for a managerial post, even though the role was for a DS (not senior or managerial). This interviewer also had no clue about probabilities and just insisted on answering questions as if I were applying for a consultant role, which was weird. The attitude wasn't great from either the first or second round manager.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Questions about probability and statistics.
  • The Russian Revolver with 6 bullets question (I don't know what was Russian about it).
  • Linear vs PCA
