First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Carrier.
Systems Engineer
It was a 3-interview process: first an HR call, then a tech manager call, and finally an onsite interview. The overall process was smooth. The HR call was straightforward. The final onsite involved a presentation and then a group meeting with three technical people who asked some engineering questions. One tough question about relocating to NY was asked to another candidate, and their answer about their girlfriend being close by didn't seem satisfactory.
- Can you explain how the heat hump works?
- What are your short-term and long-term goals?
Control Systems Engineer
So you wanna be a Control Systems Engineer at Carrier? Here's the lowdown on how the interview goes. First off, HR will hit you up, probably with an email or a call, just to chat and see if you're interested. Then they'll look at your resume to make sure you've got the right schooling and seem into control systems. Next up, you'll chat with HR or Talent Acquisition on the phone to talk about your background and why you're a good fit. Since this is an engineering gig, they'll test your technical chops – think control systems, automation, PLC stuff. After that, it's more technical interviews, digging into things like PID control, process optimization, HMI/SCADA, and how you'd actually build control strategies. They also wanna see your soft skills, so expect a behavioral interview where you can talk about teamwork and problem-solving. If it's a higher-level role, you might get a case study or have to talk about old projects. For more senior folks, there might be an on-site to meet the team and see the place, plus more tech talk. Finally, you'll meet with some bigwigs to make sure everyone's on the same page and vibes.
- Can you explain Fourier transform?
- Tell me about your Analytical Maths skills.
- What do you know about Statistical Probability?
Senior Systems Engineer
HR and hiring managers were informed and responsive. A phone screening interview with HR happened, followed by a pre-recorded interview with 5 questions. Soon after, HR connected me with a hiring manager for another interview. The final interview was with 7 people over 4 hours.
- Tell me about your behavioral and work experience.
