A recruiter reached out to me first. Then I had a phone interview with an HR manager. After that, I spoke with the hiring manager and then the general manager of that group in two separate phone interviews. About two weeks after the last phone chat, I went in for an onsite interview on a Friday. It involved meeting with 5 different people. Things seemed to go well, and they mentioned they'd gather feedback and respond within one to two weeks. Two weeks passed with no word. I contacted the recruiter, and they said they hadn't received everyone's feedback. The third week included a convention that everyone had to attend, so I figured I'd hear about next steps the following week, which would be the fourth week. On the Friday of the fourth week, exactly 28 days after my interview, the recruiter emailed to say they'd gone with another candidate. Obviously, I have no issue with them hiring someone else, but considering it took them a whole month to get all the feedback, how did they suddenly find another candidate? It would have been more professional to just be upfront about other candidates being considered. I expected better professional courtesy from a large company like that, but I guess I expected too much.
