Sales Advisor
It was a straightforward interview asking about my experience and why I wanted to work for the company. I got the offer two days later. The HR team sent over the contract and answered my questions.
- What made you apply for this job?
Sales Advisor
I applied for this Sales Advisor position online, and after not hearing back for three weeks, I'd almost forgotten about it. Then, out of the blue, I got a call to schedule an interview. They wanted me to come in the next day, but I asked for more time to prepare, so we rescheduled for the Bank Holiday Monday since the manager was away. The interview was held on the shop floor at a cluttered desk, with customers and staff walking by. They showed me other staff's commission earnings, which I found a bit much. The interviewer spent a lot of time talking about himself and less about the actual job, even saying he disliked 'sales people' and called them 'rip off artists', and that I'd be a customer advisor, not a sales advisor. He then bragged about hiring someone with no sales experience who was soon making £10,000 a month. When he finally asked about my experience, it was clear he hadn't read my CV or application. The questions were basic and could have been answered by just looking at my application for a minute. I was told I'd hear back by the following Monday, but I haven't received any response, and my calls have been ignored. The whole thing took six weeks, and I still haven't had a reply.
- Have you worked in retail previously?
Sales Advisor
About an hour with the store manager, quite informal and relaxed - general competency, structured interview questions. Going through the usual things that like to be explored, going through work history in more depth, successes, failures etc. Customer Service, teamwork - not so much on the actual product which was surprising but it became clear quite comprehensive training so product knowledge
