The process started with a screening call, followed by a virtual interview. Then there was a day-long on-campus interview that included several parts: a one-on-one with my direct supervisor, a team interview with the department, a lunch interview with students, a group interview with campus partners/collaborators, and a final wrap-up conversation with the supervisor.

I applied online, and after one good year, I got my first interview. I interviewed twice online, one with a panel and another one with the PI of the project. Then I had to wait for some good time without any update, which pissed me off. The whole process takes quiet long depending on the role.

I received an email from the hiring manager's assistant to set up an interview for a Communications position. The confirmation email stated that the interview could be conducted via audio only or video/audio. I chose the audio-only option on Zoom. However, about 2 minutes into the call, the hiring manager insisted on a video interview only and stated he would have his assistant reschedule. Two days passed with no contact, so I reached out to the assistant. She sent a few dates from the manager's calendar, and I confirmed my availability. After a few more days with no response, I emailed again, cc'ing the hiring manager, but received no reply. This whole experience was frustrating and disappointing because I was not given a chance to interview due to an error in the initial communication from the assistant, which caused the rescheduling issue and ultimately led to me not getting an interview for a role I was very excited about.
