Technical Support Engineer
Applied online and got a call for a technical interview. The person who conducted it was not good. I had to correct them a few times and they didn't like it. Given my SSCP and CISSP certifications and resume, I expected more relevant questions. It's frustrating that they don't review the resume and ask basic questions.
- Can you tell me how to find an IP address?
- What's the process for updating group policy in Active Directory?
- How would you join two tables in SQL?
Technical Support Engineer
So after I applied online, I had this first call with a recruiter, kinda just to see where I was career-wise and if I was a good fit, you know, nothing too intense. Then I had a technical screen with a team lead, which went great. After that, I chatted with a manager remotely, and it was less about tech skills and more about personality and just getting to know me. Then another technical screen, this time with a senior engineer, which was a bit deeper but still manageable if you've done this kind of work before. The next step was going on-site for interviews at their main office. I met with a bunch of people there, including the manager I talked to before, some support engineers (one TSE and one Senior TSE), another manager, and then the recruiter from the start. The on-site interviews had all sorts of questions. After all that, they took me back to the airport. The whole thing just wrapped up this week and they're deciding now. Honestly, no matter what happens, this has been one of the best interview experiences ever, which says a lot about the company and its people. You can really tell how good a company is by how they treat you during hiring, and this place is top-notch!
- What are your thoughts on your current career stage and your motivations for seeking a new role?
- Could you elaborate on the skills you bring to the table that align with this position?
- Can you detail your experience with Windows operating systems?
Technical Support Engineer
The whole thing took about a month from when I applied to when I got the offer. It started with a quick call from the recruiter, then two technical interviews over video. After that, I had a phone chat with the hiring manager, and finally, I went to the main office for an in-person interview with different people there. I thought it was cool how the company's website was spot on about the process, and I liked that they moved things along pretty quickly.
- Can you describe your experience with Linux?
- What's your process for recording and interpreting packet captures?
- How would you approach troubleshooting an issue that spans both servers and client endpoints?
