The interview process felt a bit strange and unclear. I got a quick response from the recruiter after applying. The initial 15-minute "introductory" call with the recruiter, half of which was spent discussing their salary which is below market and fixed, even though I already knew this from Glassdoor. I was immediately offered a second "1-hour" call with a director. The next day, the recruiter emailed with typos confirming a 1-hour call with the director, but it ended up being only 30 minutes. The director vaguely mentioned I'd hear from another director, which wasn't communicated or organized well. During the call, I gathered they were more interested in my communication skills and learning ability rather than technical skills, but the technical questions and the limited time made me unsure of what they were actually looking for.

I found the job on Linkedin and HR contacted me. We had a phone chat about the job and my experience. He said he'd pass my resume to the team. We talked about salary, and he promised to update me. A few days later, he set up a meeting with the team. The team interview went well, and I got an offer the next week. The whole thing took less than two weeks, which was awesome!
- If project stakeholders had differing opinions on a key task, how would you manage that scenario?

Had a really quick phone screen with HR, just basic stuff about me and the job, nothing to stress over. Then, I went in person to their Detroit office for an interview with two managers. They gave me a weird vibe, starting off by saying my resume was 'interesting' in a not-so-great way and were condescending. It felt strange to be basically insulted at the start, but I got an offer, so maybe I'm just being overly sensitive. The whole process was super fast. Compared to other places I'm interviewing with, Carat's process felt rushed, like they just needed anyone because of high turnover. I want to feel valued and like there's room to grow, not just grab the first job. So, while I get liking a fast process, this felt way too quick. Just one 30-minute in-person interview with one future teammate, and I got an offer? It just feels a bit off. They were also really pushy about accepting the offer fast, only giving me 48 hours. That, plus the low pay and super easy interview (way less time talking to managers than for internships, and this is a full-time role), made me decline. Didn't seem like a place where I'd be challenged or valued.
- I basically walked them through my resume, and my extra curricular activities, etc. and they would ask for more specifics if needed.
- Very straight forward.
