Software Engineer
I got a message from a recruiter on linkedin after sending in my resume and we scheduled a skype chat with one of the lead devs. They asked me some basic software design and work history questions and after that we planned an onsite. At the onsite, I met with 3 other devs, the VP of engineering and had another meeting with the lead dev. We discussed the Caradigm product, my work history, and I got a quick demo of their single sign-on product. I decided not to move forward since I had accepted a different offer elsewhere.
- Could you build a class for a radial dial, incorporating some complexities to demonstrate your understanding of software abstraction?
Software Engineer
The interview was scheduled for one day and lasted 2 hours, split into 2 phases. The first hour involved an interview with an unprepared interviewer who seemed unaware of my resume's content. They had no questions or clear goals, so I had to spend the entire hour discussing my past experiences just to fill the time. The second hour was with a different interviewer who appeared to have an agenda. They asked a simple compression algorithm question. While I was coding, they kept changing the problem's parameters. It felt like they wanted me to implement their specific solution rather than me solving the problem independently. Honestly, the two people who conducted these interviews shouldn't be allowed to interview candidates.
- Can you talk about your past work for an hour without the interviewer asking questions or giving feedback?
- Code a compression algorithm.
- The requirements for the compression algorithm problem kept shifting.
Software Engineer
I had one Skype interview and then a 5-hour in-person interview a week later. The questions ranged from easy to hard depending on my knowledge of the topics. They asked about everything from Front End to Back End development using .NET and Knockout.
- What are some specific front end specialist questions?
- Can you answer some more front end questions?
- What are your thoughts on infrastructural questions?
