& Process

I met with 6 or 7 people in total, including VPs, a UI designer, dev managers, and two principal program managers. The interviews took place over 6 hours in a conference room where the interviewers came in one by one. Lunch was provided via a coupon for the downstairs cafe. I suspect they had already chosen another candidate since I was told the day after the interview that they were pursuing someone else, implying mine might have been a formality.

The team was really smart and genuinely believed in the company. The process was smooth and efficient, following a typical interview loop. It involved multiple calls with the recruiter, followed by more calls with the management team and senior leaders. Finally, there was a loop interview with six people.

The interview was scheduled for one day and lasted 2 hours, split into 2 phases. The first hour involved an interview with an unprepared interviewer who seemed unaware of my resume's content. They had no questions or clear goals, so I had to spend the entire hour discussing my past experiences just to fill the time. The second hour was with a different interviewer who appeared to have an agenda. They asked a simple compression algorithm question. While I was coding, they kept changing the problem's parameters. It felt like they wanted me to implement their specific solution rather than me solving the problem independently. Honestly, the two people who conducted these interviews shouldn't be allowed to interview candidates.

It was like a typical Microsoft interview loop, basically a full day with six different interviewers. Each interview lasted about an hour. They asked a mix of technical, business, and personal questions. For this specific role, they really wanted to dig into my understanding of software design, how things are implemented, and different ways to approach the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
