First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Capco.
Principal Software Engineer
After the initial recruiter call, the interview process had three parts. First, a technical whiteboarding session with a Principal Engineer where I had to draw out the architecture of a past project. Then, I met with a Managing Principal who asked about my experience managing engineering teams, delivering projects, and my skills in account commercials like business development, RFIs/RFPs, and growing accounts. Lastly, I had a casual but key conversation with the Global Head of Engineering about my career journey and how I approach management.
- Can you tell me about your experience with account commercials?
Senior Developer
The first contact was with a recruiter, who was very objective, presented the company, benefits (which are many), praised my cv, then showed the position and asked personal questions, start date, about professional experience. The second stage was with a technician, who asked several technical questions, to check if I had the necessary skill, it lasted about 45 minutes. The third interview was with 2 managers: The Account Manager and the Director, both very friendly and objective. They asked more questions about professional experience, about how I worked in a team, my experience as a consultant, then they talked about the client and the company. After that, I received a call from the Recruiter and they said I was approved, confirmed the salary, if I was interested, and sent me the offer letter.
- Can you explain how you resolved a complex issue and detail the problem itself?
- Could you elaborate on the technical details?
Software Developer
The interview process at this company was quite disorganized. I interviewed at their Toronto office with the Team Lead, Project Manager, and a Partner. It seemed to go well, as HR contacted me the next day saying I was selected. Salary negotiations began, and after I gave my figure, HR said she'd confirm within a couple of days but never did. I contacted her associate who was unhelpful, citing the year-end. I followed up after the holidays and spoke to HR again, who still claimed to be waiting. While I understand budget constraints can affect decisions, it's expected to at least update the candidate, especially when a timeline was promised.
- Could you explain dependency injection?
- Describe the singleton pattern and how one might implement it.
- Solve this data structures problem on the whiteboard.
