HR said there would be 2 technical rounds then a manager and HR round. What actually happened was: after clearing 2 technical rounds, they ghosted me for 10 days, then a new HR took over. Then I had to take 1 test and do 1 more technical round. I cleared both. Then there was a client round. They rescheduled the client round 4 times in 2 weeks. I mean, for such a big company, you'd think they'd have clients available for a candidate who cleared 4 rounds. Also, I noticed a 'Client is God' culture. We can't do anything because it's the client, and we can't say anything because it's the client. So, what about the candidate? Are we just needy random people?

Technical Coding

The initial HR screening went smoothly, but the technical interview was quite something. It felt like they just pulled questions from a generic Java interview guide. The interviewer focused heavily on basic Java concepts, Hibernate, Spring Boot, and HashMap without considering how they relate to the actual job requirements. It was a very standard and uninspired process, typical of what you might encounter in some older interview styles—rigid, outdated, and not at all reflective of real-world software engineering tasks. Adding to the difficulty, her English was very poor, making many questions hard to understand, which intensified an already frustrating experience. It felt more like a poorly put-together quiz than a proper interview.

The interview process involved three rounds: Technical 1 (L1), Technical 2 (L2), and a Manager/HR interview. The interviews were conducted on Microsoft Teams. The role requires 8+ years of experience in designing and building distributed transactional systems, with strong knowledge of Java and Middleware (like IBM Web MQ, Hibernate caching, Redis/Memcached), design patterns, system resiliency, observability, scalability, and performance. Cloud development experience, preferably with Microsoft Azure (like AWS Lambda), is expected. Familiarity with Databases (NoSQL/RDBMS), Agile/DevOps, Securities processing systems, and Trade Lifecycle is important. Experience with Web development frameworks like Angular 2+, understanding of UX, Workflows, and Agile/DevOps practices are also key.
