First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Canopy Energy.
Sales Representative
It was a strange interview. I met with a Branch Manager and a top sales rep. It was very casual and conversational, which was nice. They cursed a lot, which doesn't offend me, but it wasn't necessary. I got a bad vibe about the company from talking to them. They actually said 'It's like taking candy from a baby.' Most of the interview was them showing off how wealthy they were, and how they take trips all the time.
- Can you tell us about your experience, and have you done sales before?
Outside Sales Representative
The company has great employee reviews on Glassdoor, but most seem to be from office staff, not sales reps. I went to an "information session" that was well-run and presented. It could be a good company that keeps customers happy, and successful sales reps might make good money. However, everyone at the info session (which was basically a sales pitch) was invited to training. They seem to have frequent training, and it's commission-only pay, with no expected paycheck for about 60 days. It's pretty part-time and flexible, but I got the impression that not many people succeed, and they're always recruiting salespeople to find the few who can close deals.
- It wasn't really an interview, more like a sales pitch.
Sales Representative
The interview was very informative, interesting, and showed great promise and opportunity. The questions asked were not standard but also not too abstract. The interviewer was on time and did not make me wait. He was also very easy to talk to without the 'superiority' feel. I loved the feeling of such great opportunity that was offered.
