First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Canon Medical Informatics.
Software Engineer
After applying, I had a Codility challenge within 5 days. A week later, I had a team/panel interview where the interviewers were really friendly and supportive. I got the results 5 days after that. The recruiter was helpful and easy to talk to.
- Questions about data structures and algorithms.
Software Engineer Intern
They asked me about my coding background first, then gave me some coding riddles that covered things like probability and simple algorithms. The interview ran long, which was kinda rude and made me have to rush.
- Tell me about your coding background.
- Can you solve basic algorithm problems?
- Can you solve probability problems?
Software Engineer
I applied for a software developer position and after a few months got an interview invitation. First, I had a standard chat with HR, then a technical phone screen in C++ with the VP of engineering. The interview felt a bit off and gave a small company vibe. The phone screen had typical C++ questions on topics like operator overloading and polymorphism, which the interviewer seemed to be reading from a list. He liked textbook answers, but when I explained a concept using an example, he struggled to understand. It felt like he only accepted answers matching his list. The interview difficulty was average. A few days later, I was told I didn't pass. I later had a harder C++ interview elsewhere which I passed, so I'm unsure if it was the interviewer's or my C++ skills that led to my rejection.
- Could you explain what polymorphism is?
- What are the three ways to pass arguments to functions in C++?
