First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Campus Advantage.
Leasing Manager
After I applied, I got a call for an interview pretty quickly, within a couple days. The interview itself was alright. They asked some general questions about my management approach, my leasing background, how I'd deal with college students, and what my salary expectations were. They told me they'd let me know about their decision by the end of that week, but I never heard back at all, not even an email to say if I got the job or not. It feels like people should always be kept in the loop about their application status, you know? It's just basic courtesy and professionalism.
- How do you manage when you're under pressure?
Assistant General Manager
I was recruited by one of the recruiters, because they got my name from a current employee. I was called for an interview, and that same week had an interview over the phone with a recruiter. After that, I had an open communication over email and phone with the same recruiter for future interviews. I was interviewed probably about a total of seven times before I was offered and accepted my current position, but it wasn't a terrible experience. My first initial interview was in August, and I accepted my current position in November, so it was a drawn out process, but the company really tries to make sure you are placed in a position that is perfect for you.
- How would you market different types of people to lease at your property if your leasing numbers were low?
Community Assistant
I interviewed with the leasing manager at the clubhouse. Some other people interviewing at the same time had both the leasing manager and general manager interview them, but the general manager wasn't available when I went in. After they asked me some questions, we walked around the community, and stopped at the model. While there, we discussed the different floor plans and the job's compensation, which includes free housing and utilities, plus a commission for every apartment leased.
- What feedback would your previous manager give you regarding areas for improvement?
Leasing Manager
I applied online and got a call the next day from corporate. We had a 45-minute phone interview where the HR rep seemed really excited about my 20-year career and marketing background, thinking I was a great fit for the Leasing Manager role. She said the community would be in touch soon. The next evening, I got an email saying they couldn't place me because I was overqualified, even though I was ready to start fresh as the LM. It's no wonder there's high turnover.
- Could you describe your marketing background?
