First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Campbell Lutyens.
Intern
We started with a resume drop, then an HR screening with Dartmouth Partners. After that, I had a first round with two executives (analysts) which was a mix of technical and behavioral questions. The second round was with 2 associates/VPs, also a mix of technical/behavioral. Finally, the superday had 2 managing directors with 2 back-to-back interviews that were mainly behavioral.
- Can you discuss any potential red flags associated with GPs/LPs?
Financial Controller
The interview process at Campbell Lutyens was great and everything was laid out clearly. First, I talked with the Head of Finance, then I did a technical test. After that, I had four 30-minute interviews with different team members, and the last step was a chat with the CFO. They kept me updated and organized throughout. The HR folks were really helpful and open. Everyone I met was prepared, asked good questions about the job and the company culture, and gave me a sense of where the finance team is headed. All in all, it was a professional, interesting, and smooth experience.
- Can you share an instance where your financial priorities clashed with the objectives of another department?
Executive
It was quite a long process, I initially applied via Darmouth Partners, a London recruitment firm that specializes in boutique financial services firms. First, I submitted my CV. Then, I had an interview and an online test with Dartmouth. After that, there was a networking brunch at CL. Next, I took a written test at Dartmouth, which they also discuss in the interviews. Finally, I had 4 interviews at CL with 1 or 2 interviewers, followed by 4 more interviews at CL with Partners/VP.

- Why did you choose to study your degree?
Intern
My first interview was a 30-minute Zoom call with a recruiter, since the firm outsources recruiting and it wasn't someone from the actual team. After that, I was invited to a virtual "super day." This involved two 30-minute interviews, one after the other, with the two members of the GPCA team. Since the team is new in New York, they were apparently only looking for two interns. The interview itself felt pretty straightforward, but unfortunately, I didn't get an offer in the end.
- What's your approach to valuing an asset manager?
