The first round was with the hiring manager, where we mainly discussed my past experience and the expectations for this role, along with some behavior questions. It was pretty easy to pass to the next round. The technical round had two parts: first, an easy-to-medium Leetcode question, and second, a knowledge check on basics, cloud services, and distributed system knowledge. I managed the coding question but didn't do well on the knowledge part.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

A manager initially contacted me via email for an in-office interview lasting about an hour. We discussed my background, experience, and the job details quite a bit. About a week later, I was invited back to shadow a current employee for an hour and then meet with a panel for another hour. While both parts of the second visit felt really good, I had a hunch I might not be the best fit due to my limited knowledge of HTML. The recruiter kept in touch throughout the decision-making period. Everyone involved was super friendly the entire time.

Behavioral Technical

This company has no respect for candidates' time. The initial Skype interviewer was rude via email, giving short answers. After the interview, I was told I'd hear back in 3-4 days due to the time difference. I heard nothing. I followed up for 3 weeks, and each time got an excuse about the local recruiter being on leave but back now, and that I'd hear back this week. A month later, still nothing. The overseas recruiter in San Francisco kept me thinking I was still in the process. This is the first time in my nearly 10 years of sales experience that a company has shown zero respect for a candidate's time. What a joke.

Coding

I applied after seeing an ad on LinkedIn and was emailed to complete a coding test. The test was time-consuming but not overly complex. I used it as an opportunity to try out new technologies like TypeScript. It took me about a week of evenings to complete. I sent the HR person the GitHub link. I was expecting an interview, but a week later I got a template rejection email appreciating my effort. I checked the GitHub stats and saw my code wasn't even downloaded and only a few files were viewed. So they didn't even run my code. Disappointing.
